WHAT THE FROG SAID TO ME

Down beneath the guilt,
slick smiles sucking
words and words and words
of want, worry,
cast on beauty
ugly stones
and tales of heroes
who say,
“Just stay there, don’t move,
so I can imprison you
with a kiss.”
